The name Vertuo derives from the word “Virtuoso”, which means mastering an expertise.

In this commercial a dancer and the new Nespresso Vertuo both demonstrate their artistic and technical virtuosity, therefore the music needed to show the same level of skill.

We took a classical violin as the base and lead instrument on which to build upon. Playing dramatic melodic lines and guiding us through interesting harmonies and an unexpected modulation. Next we decided to give the music an urban/underground twist and bring the classical and the digital world together. A strong back beat drum, side chained sub bass and lo fi keys complimented the violin and gave the track its signature rich sound.

Lastly we wanted to reflect the circling/rotating motions in both the dance choreography and the Vertuo machine in the music as well. High pitched bells, acoustic piano and melodic percussion such as vibraphone playing fast ascending and descending scales were added to create a feeling of circling musical movement.
